This Christmas I realised just how privileged South Africans are.
Imagine this. You flee from the economic crisis in your country and arrive in South Africa with little more than what you are wearing. You will take any job as long as you could send some money back to family. You buy food but not everything you need - including a blanket. You sleep with the clothes you have, no blanket. You have 1 pair of shoes you got, so you walk around barefoot so as to not ruin the shoes unnecessarily.
Finally you find a job - even though you have a diploma or degree - all you do is make sure that wild animals don't eat crops, but you are thankful and get up every morning to be on time and work on public holidays so you can get overtime pay so you can earn more to support your family in Zimbabwe.
Please spare a thought for Zim's innocent people that Bob kills with his idiocy.
... and let that be a lesson to toyi-toying South Africans.

8 days to Christmas
This year has flown by so fast that it is actually scary. Just the other day it was 3 months to Christmas!
Have you done all your Christmas shopping? I have. I'm steering clear from shops until after Christmas!
Anyway... I still like counting, so... I have 8 more days to write something about Christmas before I can start writing about 2009!

Too hot to handle
It is hot, really, really, really, really hot this December. I wish it wasn't school holidays and I had leave to pack my bags and be able to go to Ballito or some nice Natal holiday spot!
Anyway, for those on the road ... happy happy and safe driving!

The silver lining around the dark cloud
Dark Cloud:
2008 is dragging
The government is useless
Everything in South Africa gets done in African time
Silver Lining:
Less than 30 days to go before 2009
The government will still be useless in 2009, I'm trying to make peace
Elections, I'm still voting DA
At least the Gautrain's first 15 carts arrived - just finish the damn line!
Words/Phrases I would like South Africans to understand:
Make haste, maak klaar, maak vinniger, pakisa!
Tyd is geld, time equals money
My geld is myne, gaan werk in plaas van steel
Beter yet, go ask the ANC for money, they are the owners of the leaking gravy train
Step away from my car window, I don't have aircon and I will rip your head off if you try anything

...and then it was 2009
After 2009 comes 2010 Soccer World Cup and after that 2011 and hopefully yet another Rugby World Cup victory (take that Aussies and Kiwis!).
May everybody have a merry little Christmas with lots of love and gifts! May 2009 bring you only happiness and job security - and a better economy - and a better government!
May those that want to get rid of the Springbok get cramps and hear that irritating screeching beep in their ears for the whole of 2009!
