FIFA handed South Africa the 2010 "lemon" and now we just have to put our heads down and get things done before those Australians get to laugh at this nation for not being able to host a little tournament.
Did South Africa not host the 1995 Rugby World Cup - and win it? That after no warning? Building a stadium is a little more difficult than building a townhouse complex, but damn, how can a townhouse complex be build in 6 months and a stadium not in 4 years? So, don't tell me that South Africa can't handle hosting 2010.
PS. If the world loves employing South Africans because we are such hard workers, why can't those building the stadiums stop their toyi-toying and just do the job they get paid for?
We can host 2010 and show those damn yapping Australians that we can do it!

Windscreen chips...and ocean air
ai R250 later my little Spark's windscreen is a-ok again. I needed to have it fixed before I fly down to East London on Wednesday for work.
I'm quite psyched to get to go to somewhere by the ocean... I don't care that the ocean might be cold or that I'll work during the day. I'm there for the work, the sea view from the client's offices and the ocean air. What the heck, I might even convince the Leprechaun to fly in on Friday and spend the weekend on the beach. buhaha.
Did I mention that I'm seeing some ocean before Europe??? woohoo

Exercise needn't be a punishment or an expensive exercise
I'm no expert - except for the fact that I spent half my life on some sort of sports field, but exercise needn't be a punishment or an expensive exercise.
I recently wrote a post about how to get fit easily. This very flexible daily exercise regime will help you loose some weight, firm up those flabby muscles and get you off the couch. I promise that I will be following it for the next 7 weeks. I hope that in 2 weeks I'll be fit enough and strengthened the muscles around my knee enough to pump up the pace to a jog. I would love to say that I jogged through the streets of Barcelona - with no bulls chasing me!

7 weeks to go
... and I need to make sure I don't die the first day I have to do a bit of walking!
I realised this weekend that my little flu a few weeks ago had really left a bad impression on my fitness levels and that I will need to shape up before shipping out.
I definitely need to get fit enough to be able to get through walking a lot, riding a bicycle in Amsterdam, doing white water rafting and hopefully some skiing in Switzerland.
I also need to strengthen my back muscles, shoulders and arms - I really don't want to be the one that can't carry my own backpack.

I'm not paying one cent for new numberplates - so sod off.
According to an article on IOL, Gautengers can expect new numberplates... smart number plates. I don't mind that these numberplates will basically invade my right to privacy of where I travel and when, but what I do mind is that I will have to fork out money for it - every 5 years.
"The registration plates would be renewed every five years. "Motorists who want to retain their current registration number will be allowed to do so, but they will have to go through a renewal exercise so that their registration plates are manufactured within the new specifications," Nhlapo said. "
I'm sorry to have to be the one to say this, but stop squeezing already tightly squeezed consumers. I don't care that you will give us ample time to get new numberplates. "He added that when the changeover begins, vehicle owners would receive sufficient notification." I do however care that now I will have to fork out money for it every five years and actually drive to a place to get new numberplates.
When I lived in Transvaal/Northern Province/Limpopo I have gone through the exercise of idiots not being able to decide on a T/N/L... I had to get new numberplates everytime somebody had an ant in his panties.
Read the full article about Gauteng's new number plates here.

Learning about SEO
I attended a little thing this weekend and was surprised by the knowledge I already have about search engine optimization.
I knew about a lot of the things the girl talked about - so I was bored a bit while she talked like a machine gun.
I'm going to test out my skills on a fresh new website and see how fast it gets indexed and how well it ranks.

Petrol Prices and the Shrinking Rand
It seems that no matter how great your last increase was, you still have less money to spend on those luxuries you promised yourself prior to the raise.
It is rumored (read certain) that the petrol price will yet again rise in August. What a big surprise.
The Rand/Euro exchange rate has not been below R12 for forever either. I can't decide whet ever it is because one of our smart politicians opened their mouths or didn't when they should have. I just know that it is not in my best interest to have a pathetic exchange rate.

Almost the weekend... and I'll spend it in bed
I've been booked off work since Tuesday due to the nasty little flu virus. I'm just about ready to kick myself out of the house - that is how boring it is. The 18 hour naps per day were great, but I'm done not working. I logged into my work mail this morning to just make sure nobody has forgotten me... and did 5 mins of work before falling asleep again and it seems that a whole lot of work is waiting if I go in tomorrow - yay!
I might still be sitting here cooking with fever between medication rounds, but I'm up for a few hours of work :)
