Life after getting DSTV

Finally, after many years of not having DSTV, my fiancĂ© insisted that he needs it – just like I need to have internet all the time.

Get a life, write a blog

I definitely love blogging for Travelstart. Most of the things I don’t blog on here is related to something that they would like to publish for their customers.

Now that I’m officially engaged I’ve started a blog on this too. Just so that I will remember all the things that I did, read and want.

Golf

Taking up golf is quite expensive. Damn. At least Mr Price Sport in Centurion sells their golfing equipment much cheaper than the golf shops here in Johannesburg. I just wish the Mr Price Sport in Northgate can open sooner!

I must admit that maybe I like the driving range so much because I can whack balls around. Btw. From now on, instead of being told how much you irritate me I will mark 10 balls with your face and forgive you after sending them far onto the field.

Some Daisies for Miss Deysel

Last week I was treated to a beautiful bunch of daisies from Samsung to remind me that Pushing Daisies was showing on Mnet (- and will soon be ending its current series). (If you didn't know, Pushing Daisies was sponsored by Samsung.)

Now I know that you're wondering why I got flowers from Samsung, right?
The answer is simple, I am one of the first phone reviewers for Samsung Mobile SA. This means that I will be getting Samsung phones to test drive for a week and blog about it.

To read more about Samsung phones and to stay informed of great competitions on the blog, visit www.samsungblog.co.za.

Eskom Eishkom Ripoffcom

Ok, so, last night on the news I heard that now Eskom (yet another government parastatal) now threatens us with a 60% rate increase.

I have a slight problem with this. My salary never gets increased by 60% a year - so why would Eskom think they can increase their prices by that much?

Quite frankly - how can Eskom's people get big bonuses at the end of the year - if "they are in financial trouble"? Explain that to me. Please. Here is a tip Eskom - stop paying enormous bonuses and get your infrastructure up and running.

While I am at it - stop lying. You have been caught out not once - but twice. Wet coal... my @ss.

48 hours of rain

Jozi has now had 48 hours of rain. It is cold. And I'm happy.

I love this weather even if I know that it is abnormal for this time of year.

Telkom? Is that our national telecommunications people?

Yesterday Telkom phones me, "Ms Deysel, we unfortunately cannot provide you with a landline for your adsl order, but would you be interested in wimax?"

WTF. Really, what is written on my forehead? Do I look stupid? No, I don't. Do I think Telkom is cheeky in trying to offer me a service that will cost me more than normal adsl? YES I DO. Do I think Telkom is useless after... 11 months of waiting for my adsl line? YES I DO!

Meeting up with old friends

Last night I met up with two of my very best schoolfriends. Keep in mind that we matriculated in 1997 and in those days we didn't have cellphones or email addys!

I have to give all the glory and shine to Facebook for reuniting us after so many years. We have now already set another date for a braai with our other halves.

What is it with drunk people having loud discussions at 2 in the morning?

This morning I was rudely woken by my downstairs neighbour having a (presumeably) drunken conversation with a friend. Unfortunately the discussion took place a mere 2 meters from my bedroom window. I closed them, but I could still hear the conversation.

Unfortunately I'm not really a nice person (to start with) so I grabbed a blanket and went out onto my balcony and spoke to them...
"Morning there! There must be a * good reason why you have woken me at * 2 am - I guess you must have breakfast ready for me. Else go into your * livingroom and have your * discussion inside." They kept quiet for awhile and I repeated my sentence. They got up and went inside, leaving me to try get back to sleep.

If this happened during a Saturday or Sunday morning - whatever. Unfortunately when it happens on a Thursday morning and I need to go to work - you better hope that I don't get it into my head that you would like me to wake you every morning at 2 am until I feel that you got the picture and felt my pain.

I really don't know why people don't realise that when you live in close proximity to your neighbours (like most of us in security complexes do) you have to keep it down and take your neighbours into consideration. The second point that really got me - don't everyone already know that sound travels further at night.
