Euthanasia | not the answer

Today I got another email about cats in need of homes... or else they will be put down. This really breaks my heart. If I could, I would adopt more kittens. At least I am doing something. I am supporting a pro-life shelter by donating.

I'm against euthanising of cats - period. Unless a cat is sick and nothing can be done - the cat deserves to live. There are plenty of pro-life cat shelters in South Africa to take homeless cats in. Yes, they do need the public's support and donations.

Another really big concern is that people leave South Africa and their pets. How heartless can you be? Your pet loves you, depends on you and most importantly, needs you to be there for them and protect them. Yet, here you pack your suitcases and leave the country - your cat on the other hand... will hopefully find a new home and not be euthanised. Have I had job offers in other countries - yes! Did I think it was a great opportuity? Yes! Did I first go look at the country's laws for importing my cat? Yes, that is why I'm still in this country.

If you are a pro-euthanasia person, think of it this way. We have thousands of children in shelters etc. - are we euthanising them just because they are homeless? I think not.

Have I mentioned that if you donate to a NPO (non-profit organization) you can put that on your tax form? Think about it. Support a charity and donate a few bucks every so often.
